Mexican Remanded For A Single Round

A Mexican man is at the Kolby Central Prison tonight after he was caught with a single round of ammunition. Twenty five year old Diego Cruz Gonzalez, a Mexican National residing at 6240 Buttonwood Bay, became an inmate of Belize Central Prison Today after he appeared in Magistrate's Court and was charged with keeping ammunition without a gun license. Gonzalez pleaded not guilty to the charge. Through an interpreter Chief Magistrate Margret McKenzie explained to him that the court cannot offer him bail because of the nature of the offence. She remanded him into custody until January 18, 2011. On Tuesday December 14th, police searched Gonzalez's apartment and reported that they found a single 9 millimeter bullet S and B brand inside his room. Gonzalez could not produce a license for the bullet so he was arrested and charged. Gonzalez, who is in the recycling business, buys and sells metal. He had a visa to stay in Belize for one month.
