No Charges For Customs Personnel With Cash
posted (December 16, 2010)
Last night we told you about two customs officers and a customs guard who were held by police after they were intercepted by the Antidrug unit. One of the officers had 22 thousand US dollars in pocket. The road block was reportedly set up by the ADU after they got intelligence that one of the officers had visited what they believe is a suspicious personality in Corozal.

All three were released last night without charges - but the matter remains under investigation. The officer with the money reportedly told police that he was simply conveying the money from Corozal to Belize for a relative and it was not his property.

Still that's undeclared, untaxed money and the matter remains under investigation by the Financial Intelligence Unit.
