UZI Lands Teenager In Jail

Last night we told you that five persons were caught at a home on Curassow Street with an Uzi submachine gun. Well, that matter has been quickly resolved as one of the persons pleaded guilty and is serving time tonight. He is Eighteen year old Luis Kerr Jr, and in court today, he pleaded guilty to keeping an Uzi semi automatic submachine gun and 16 rounds of 9 millimeter caliber ammunition.

Magistrate Aretha Ford sentenced him to 2 years for each count with the stipulation that the sentences are to run concurrently. Therefore, Kerr will only serve 2 years.

With his please, the charges against the others were withdrawn. They included Kerr's mother, 42 year old Ava Young and his three sisters, 19 year old Stacy Kerr, 22 year old Vanessa Jones and 23 year old Denise Jones. Police found the Uzi with the ammunition in its magazine around 3 o'clock yesterday afternoon when they searched the family's residence at 8 Curassow Street. The Uzi was in a black plastic bag in the attic.
