posted (December 28, 2010)
On Friday we told you about an armed robbery at a Ladyville grocery store - where police had tracked down the alleged culprits in quick time.

Two of those men, 23 year old Wababa Noralez and 23 year old Roger Bowen were charged with 2 counts of robbery and conspiracy to commit robbery, when they appeared today in Magistrate's Court. Noralez was also charged with possession of a controlled drug, 20.5 grams of cannabis. They pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Chief Magistrate Margaret McKenzie remanded them into custody until February 23, 2011. The Robberies occurred around 10 a.m on December 24 in Ladyville. Twenty nine year old Chinese businessman Jian Toayang the owner of E-buy Store, reported to the police that he was paying 40 year old Walter Sosa, a salesman for Bowen and Bowen, when a man entered and went to the back of the store.

Toayang said when the man returned to the front of the store he pointed a pistol to the back of Sosa's head and stole two thousand dollars from him. Toayang said the gunman then jumped over the counter and struck him several times on his head with the pistol. Toayang said the gunman stole three hundred dollars from him and another man entered the store and began to search Sosa who was ordered to lie on the ground. After they did not find any more money on Sosa they both left the store. Police detained Norales and Bowen in Belize City shortly after the incident.

Bowen claims he was beaten by the police. He said the police jumped on his back while he was lying on the ground even though he told them he has a hernia.
