For The Record: Sosa’s Swearing In

Real history was made yesterday when Justice Manuel Sosa became the first Belizean President of this country's highest resident court, the Court Of Appeal.

But the press was not invited to the swearing in - and the government press office seemed to still be on vacation - so we did not have that defining image and instead had to dig a decade deep into our archive for some footage of Justice Sosa that looked like it came out of the 15th century….

Tonight, we have gotten that footage from the government press office and though it's old news - Sosa's swearing in before the Governor General is still big news - and so here is that moment:….

"I Manuel Sosa do swear that I will bare true faith and allegiance to Belize and will uphold the constitution and the law and that I will conscientiously, impartially and to the best of my ability discharge my duties and president of the Court of Appeal and do right to all manner of people without fair or favor, affection or ill will so help God. "

Justice Sosa's tenure as president lasts until he is 62 - which will be in December of 2012 - that is when his contract as justice of appeal ends.

He has sat on the Court of Appeal for 11 years…
