Police Make Gun Seizures, One Please Guilty, Another Equivocal

Police raided a house at the crack of dawn today and discovered one 9 millimeter Glock pistol with 13 live rounds of 9 mm ammunition hidden in a bedroom.

The search was conducted at number 34 "B" Castle Street in Belize city. All six persons home at the time of the raid, 49 year old Nurse, Judith Rocke, 23 year old Kareem Gillett, 24 year old Rashawn Rocke, 18 year old Brittney Rudon, Ervin Orosco and a 12 year old male minor, were arrested and charged for the offences of Kept Unlicensed Firearm and Kept Ammunition without a gun license.

Today, 23 year old Kareem Gillett pleaded guilty to the firearm and ammunition charges in the number 6 magistrate's court, allowing for charges against the other five to be withdrawn. Magistrate Dorothy Flowers sentenced him to two years for each count with the stipulation that the sentences run concurrently.

And in another gun case, Two persons, 19 year old Felicia Audinett and 24 year old Jaime Andrews, were charged with firearm and ammunition offences when they appeared today in the #5 Magistrate's court.

Andrew's alone was charged with aggravated assault with a firearm. Audinett wanted to plead guilty to the firearm and ammunition offences, but Magistrate Albert Hoare entered an equivocal plea of not guilty when it appeared that she did not understand the charges.

Magistrate Hoare explained to Audinett and Andrews that the court cannot offer them bail because of the nature of the offences. He remanded both into custody until February 28th.

The incident occurred around 9 P.M. yesterday. The police reported they went to a house on Lawrence Avenue and when they searched Audinett, they found a .380 pistol between her legs. According to the police, one round of ammunition was in the magazine of the pistol…..
