Another jilted politician, this one shunned by the PUP, is Jerome Wade. On Friday on this newscast you heard him lament the fact that his party had changed the rules on him - by coming up with a list of 952 approved voters in a division of five thousand registered voters. He refused to play by those rules and on Sunday the PUP rolled on ahead with an endorsement convention for Arthur Saldivar.
Well Wade isn't content to just leave it at that, and he today issued a statement underscoring those complaints he made to us and added to it by saying that, quote:
"Mr. Wade, his family, his campaign team and his supporters cannot and will not support (Arthur) Saldivar as the Party's standard bearer because the people of Belize Rural North were excluded from the process…."
That's just a formality now but in fact, Wade believes his strength in this rural division is in the Belize River Valley - which Saldivar would need if he hopes to topple the incumbent UDP representative Edmund Castro. We say "Wade believes" because we're sure the always expository Mr. Saldivar has already worked that out in his head…..
