Three student teachers from Georgia who were in Belize getting their practical experience, left the country with a bitter taste in their mouths today after they were robbed at gunpoint.
It happened on Saturday afternoon in broad daylight on Princess Margaret Drive. The trio, Whitney Taylor, Lauren Taylor and Elle Griffith had just gone to BTL park for an outing and were walking home when they were held up by a man who showed them a gun. Reports are that they handed over all their money and identification cards.
Traumatized by the event, the trio who had just arrived in Belize from Kennesaw State University a few weeks ago - promptly cut their teacher training programme short and returned to Georgia.
Despite repeated requests, the Police Press office - which has come into the casual habit of simply not reporting such events - has not provided us any details.
