It happened yesterday evening just after 5:00 between miles 35 and 36 on the northern highway. 43 year old Ashok Bhojwani was driving form Corozal to Belize and was giving 51 year old customs guard Hallet Baiza a ride to the city.

But passing mile 36, the Rodeo experienced a blowout of its right back tire and it flipped several times. Bhojawani received only minor injury while Hallet Baeza suffered major head and body injuries. He was rushed to the Orange Walk Hospital where at 5:45 pm, he succumbed to those injuries.

Police say Bhjowani has been served with a notice of intended prosecution. Baiza had worked at the customs department in multiple capacity for well over twenty years and also had sons who worked at customs.
