Last night we told you tragic news of Sonia Diaz, the 5 year old student from the San Martin area of Belmopan who was crushed by a Crystal water delivery truck.
Little Sonia was riding her bicycle back to school after having lunch at home when she was run over by the Crystal Truck which was reversing down the street.

The body of little 5 year old Sonia Diaz - lay dead on St Luke's Street - less than 400 yards away from her house.
Her tiny pink bicycle was still pinned underneath this Bowen and Bowen Crystal Truck. She had been run over and died almost instantly.
It happened around 12:55 on Tuesday afternoon - in the San Martin area in Belmopan.
Her father was at home at the time and told us he was first informed about the tragic incident by a friend.

"I was at home and about 15 minutes later on one of my friend arrived and told me that my kid had been hit by a Crystal truck when I arrived there I saw the body of my daughter there and with the bicycle underneath the truck and there was my daughter laying down without life anymore she was gone already."
The driver of the truck is 29 year old Albert Maskall who told police he was reversing- when he knocked down 5 year old Sonia Diaz - The little girl had just come home for her lunch break and was heading back to school for 1 o'clock.

"Some of my friends, they were yelling at the truck to stop, from reverse, but probably the driver didn't listen, didn't heard him. So the driver just continued reversing in the opposite way and there he definitely hit a girl and life was done."
Diaz told us - sometimes he and his wife would allow little Sonia to take her bicycle to school - since the school is nearby.

"Sometimes I used to go and drop her and sometimes she used to go by herself."
5 year old Sonia Diaz was the second child for her parents. Today the family told us this is an ordeal they are trying to overcome.

"Honestly when things are going on you know if you believe in God, we have an enemy and the enemy is trying to attack us one way or the other and this is one. It's trying us to see how far we can go. As we read our Bible and the book of Job our friend, he suffer so much and all his family and it hurts. And now I feel what is the pain of a father to lose one of his children, you know. So it's up to us you cannot blame the driver we just have to believe in God and let it be his will for right now."
5 year old Sonia was an Infant 1 student of Kuxlin Ha Government School.
Today her school flag was flown at half-staff - as her entire school grieved her loss.
Inside her classroom, her classmates showed us her empty seat which serves as a constant reminder for these toddlers that Sonia is no longer with them…
Instead we found her body bundled inside this sack that was carted away from the Belize City morgue by her family.
An unimaginable end for a child - described by everyone as a quiet little girl.
Funeral Services will be held tomorrow morning for 5 year old Sonia at the Alpha and Omega 7th Day Adventist Church in Belmopan.
