Lifelong PUP Don Hector Resigns From ODS
posted (February 28, 2011)
And while discord persists in the Citrus Industry, it's also recently spiked in the PUP. Last week you heard cries of dissent from newcomer Leanardo Chavrria and former Deputy Party Leader Godfrey Smith.

This week, a foundational member of the PUP Don Hector Silva has announced that he is resigning form the Party's Order of Distinguished Service.

In a letter emailed to friends, Silva Says, quote: "I am disillusioned with the course (the Party) has taken contrary to the original mission of the Old Party".

He says "the original mission was to defend the defenseless, speak for the voiceless…and this is no longer happening." He adds that "he who dares speak the truth or stand for justice and honesty can no longer fit within the party." It's no secret that Silva has been disgruntled with Party Leader John Briceno ever since he was removed as Senator over a year ago.

Still, it's another blow for Briceno's leadership which put on a good face at a party council meeting on Saturday. But, the glaring absence of Deputy Leaders Francis Fonseca, Dan Silva and other members of the executive cast a blight on the occasion.
