City Council Celebrates
posted (March 2, 2011)
And while Samuels celebrates his ascension, The Belize City Council is celebrating its fifth anniversary. City residents may say there's not much to celebrate but tomorrow an Open Day will be held in the Nich Parking lot - to showcase the work of the council.

7news spoke with Councilor Dion Leslie who told us more.

Dean Leslie, City Councilor
"Tomorrow we are having a open day in the NICH parking lot from 9-3. We will have all the different departments of the city council out there explaining to the residence of Belize city what the council does and what each department does because the people usually limits the role of that council only to what you see; garbage and cleaning of streets, fixing of streets, traffic and what's not. But there is a mass variety of things that the council does from zoning to liquor license to trade license to small business, we can go on and on. And so we want to educate the public out here what all the council does, we want to show you where your money goes when you pay your property tax; where the money goes when you pay your trade license; when you pay your liquor license and basically that's what we are doing tomorrow. It's an open day education for the residents and visitors of Belize City to educate them more and the roles of this council."

The Open day starts at 9 o'clock tomorrow morning and warps up at 3 in the afternoon. It will be held in the Nich Parking lot.
