A Working Man Murdered
posted (March 11, 2011)
Turning now to last night's headline - we today spoke to the family of 28 year old Andrew Moses - who was murdered yesterday evening.

It happened on Kraal Road, next to the Wilt Cummerbatch Field where this working man was walking when a gunman shot him multiple times.

Moses is a former post office employee and a worker for Boots Martinez - so how did he get caught in what looks like a gang related execution? Here's the story:…

Monica Bodden Reporting
28 year old Andrew Moses was gunned down here at the corner of Kraal Road and Ross Pen Road- Not too far away from a church.

Around 5 o'clock yesterday evening, Moses was riding his bicycle on Kraal Road - As he was making his way at the corner of Kraal Road and Ross Pen Road, a man pulled up from behind and fired several shots.

According to neighbors, they heard at least 15 shots - 9 of which caught Moses.

His mother who lives on Central American Boulevard told us she heard the shots - But little did she knew that her oldest son was the target.

Voice of: Mother
"I was upstairs at my house when two of my neighbors came by my gate, they were watching one another; one telling the other one 'I don't know how to tell her' and then I told them to tell 'tell me what?' then I call for my other son who was in the room sleeping and the next son was with his father. Then I figure - Andrew, he must have been out there. I ask what happen to my son. I say tell me what happen to my son and they still didn't tell me. Then I heard that my son has gotten shot in his back."

Andrew Moses was shot 9 times. 3 of those shots caught him in the chest - With one penetrating his heart.

He was also shot to the abdomen and left leg. He died on the spot.

Voice of: Mother
"I never know that he was dead, so I get in a taxi to the hospital, and when I got there my son was laid out on the bed already dead."

Moses was an employee of Boots Martinez and was working on the hurricane rehabilitation project.

He was waiting for that project to receive new funding.

In the meantime he was doing other construction jobs around the city. He was believed to have been returning home after painting a house - when he was gunned down yesterday evening.

Friends and family of Andrew Moses say they will remember him as just a cool, calm guy - who had a passion for basketball and a much greater love for his family.

He wasn't known to be affiliated with any street gangs and was the father of 2 children - ages 5 and 1.

Monica Bodden
"Many people say that he was not an affiliate of any gang."

Voice of: Mother
"None, I don't know him to be in any kind of gang at all. My son stay right in this yard when he finishes work and get his pay on Fridays, he drink and do whatever right here in this yard and from here he goes to home at Faber's Road where he lives with his girlfriend. He is not about with anybody, never a day he was picked up by police. The police cannot open their books and say that they pick up my son for attempted murder."

For this grieving mother - she leaves justice to God.

Voice of: Mother
"They kill my son, my oldest son. He is everything to me. He is my oldest son, he is my first born. If my first born was a problem person then I could understand, you understand. He doesn't bother with anybody."

Police have not detained anyone…
