And from women in politics to a man seeking public office for the first time. Marlon Skeen - you may know him as a private investigator or prison boss, but now he's an aspiring mayor!
Skeen today told us he wants to run for the VIP in Belmopan. We also met one of his most enthusiastic backers:

"I am offering myself as mayor; i am an aspiring candidate for the VIP party. I think its time we stand up and do something. I look at the parties - PUP, UDP, VIP and in my mind the VIP is very much what I would like to stand for and its something that I can relate with, I have read their constitution and I have look at it and investigate it properly and I think they are much more in tune with what I believe Belize need and the direction that we would want to go. I appeal to Belmopan - the residents of Belmopan - lets us do it, let us get rid of this PUP-UDP nonsense, let's do something. VIP is very much an independent party and we welcome people from either of the other two parties."

"What I did at the prison was a community service in my view. It was something that was needed. I got in there when it was needed and I clean it up, I tidy it up and I left in a state that was very good and hopefully that state is still being continued."

"Yes but we came close. Talking to people in Belmopan, they are very supportive of the VIP and I think if there ever was a time when a third party; an independent could do good and actually win think this is now."
