Bank Robbed In Orange Walk
posted (April 5, 2011)
And while the anti crime measures are going to the house, brazen criminal acts continue, it seems, almost unabated. Today, it was a bank robbery in Orange Walk Town where the Heritage Bank was targeted.

According to reports, between 1:00 and 1:30, two dark skinned male walked into the bank - which is on the Belize Corozal Road near to People's Store.

One of them handcuffed the unarmed security guard and put a gun to his head. The only other persons in the bank were three female staffers as everyone else had gone out to lunch and there weren't any customers inside at the time.

The men asked for the manager, a female in her mid 30's. They directed her to open the vault and disable the alarm. She refused and one of the men reportedly punched her in the mouth. After that, and with repeated threats, she complied and them men collected two bags form the vault. They reportedly put them in knapsacks and area residents says they calmly walked out the bank like two regular customers.

There's no official report on how much they got away with, but sources say it is over a hundred thousand dollars. Again, no official report has been sent either from the bank or police, so our report is credible sources, but unconfirmed. One suspect has been detained.
