This afternoon at 3:45, as many as 9 shots were heard at the corner of Vernon and Partridge streets, which is less than half a block from St. Martin's De Porres Primary School.
The victim was 21 year old Jerome Jason Wade. He and at least 3 other men were in a Grey Honda Civic that was parked a few feet from the corner.
A lone gunman on bicycle wearing a cap rode up and opened fire. Wade was hit 8 times, twice to the head, according to reports.
He was rushed to the hospital - but was pronounced dead on arrival. Again, this shooting is believed to be gang related.
According to our records, in 2008 Jerome Jason Wade was accused of shooting at a 34 year old.
This afternoon at the hospital relatives and loved ones could be seen crying and being consoled.
