Police Busted Battery Thief

Forty one year old Phillip Roy Neal, a resident of Periwinkle Street who allegedly broke into Renco Battery Factory and stole 42 vehicle batteries valued at ($11,378.00) eleven thousand, three hundred and seventy eight dollars, was charged with burglary and handling stolen goods when he appeared today in the Magistrate's Court. Neal pleaded not guilty to the charges.

He was offered a bail of five thousand dollars and his case was adjourned until June 16. The police reported that on Sunday, May 15, while they were on mobile patrol on the Northern Highway they saw Neal walking with two vehicle batteries, one in each hand. The police said when they checked they found a beach cruiser bicycle in an open lot and they found some eight more vehicle batteries.

Police investigated and learned that the batteries were stolen from the nearby Renco Battery Factory.
