Still No Charges For Cop Caught With Counterfeit, But There’s More
posted (May 19, 2011)
There's still no word tonight on whether a veteran police Sergeant will be charged after he was caught with sixteen counterfeit hundred dollar notes at the Belize Bank.

It happened yesterday morning at 10:00 at the Coney Drive branch, when the officer reportedly went to try and deposit the 1,600 US dollars in counterfeit hundred dollar notes.

Police were called as per procedure, and they confiscated the money, his identification card and the deposit slip - but departed from procedure when they did not arrest the Sergeant nor did they search his home.

Still, the investigation continues - and there is talk that he will be arrested, but the police press officer would only say that the investigation continues.

And a late evening release from the police press office has put the US counterfeit currency issue in a whole new perspective.

Today at 2:00pm Police on mobile patrol on in Belize City searched a home at #59 West Collet Canal, the residence of David Sedacey.

Sedacey was found with a transparent plastic bag with a total of 150 counterfeit $100.00US notes. The notes bore four serial numbers - and we will list them for you because of the risk of taking in counterfeit notes:

(37) with serial number FF58641474B,
(36) with serial number FF80216340B,
(38) with serial number FJ34448254A,
(39) with serial number FLO34944321C

All to a total of (150) $100.00US dollar notes, fifteen thsouand us dollars. Police formally arrested and charged David Sedasey, 35yrs, laborer of #59 West Collet Canal for Possession of counterfeit notes.

We were unable to confirm if this series of notes had anything to do with those found with the police Sargeant - who unlike Sedacey has not been charged.
