Scores Down All Around In PSE 2011
posted (June 3, 2011)
The results of the 2011 PSE were released half and hour ago. It's a 19 page release and we haven't had much time to review it. But here's what we can tell you.

Overall, it's not a pretty picture. Average performance was down in every subject: English, Math and Science, except social studies which stayed the same.

Worryingly, the mean score in English was down eight percentage points while math was down five percentage points. And in another change the top finishers were mostly form public, not private schools.

They are, in first place, Aliyah Marin of Holy Redeemer in Belize City, in second, Josette Mcgann of united Evergreen In Cayo, in third, Jordan Murillo from Belize Elementary, in fourth, Alessandra Guttierez from San Pedro RC, tied with her, Kate Ramirez from Bernice Yorke in Belize City, in sixth, Emile Hung from Our Lady of Guadalupe in Cayo, in seventh, Joshua Can from St,. Joseph's RC in Belize City, and rounding out the top eleven finishers, in a three way tie Luani Fabro from Holy Redeemer in Belize City, Wu Hin Yuan from Belize Elementary in Belize City and Alyssa Craig from Horizon Academy. We'll have a more thorough review of the exam in Monday's newscast….
