BBOC Meets, Considers Position With BBA
posted (June 13, 2011)
Notably absent from that procession of busses was the membership of the Belize Bus Owners' Cooperative. They're the ones who started the whole fuss about Westline - but it seems they're going in a different direction from the Belize Bus association.

Today, they held a membership meeting at the Cooperative's Office in Belize City - and chairman Claude Frazier told us that right now his members have no issues:..

Claude Frazier, Chairman - BBOC
"The outcome was very successful because the members had realized where they had agreed and signed to the negotiating where we compromised with the Prime Minister and we accepted the runs that was given to us."

Jules Vasquez
"In the north and in the west?"

Claude Frazier, Chairman - BBOC
"I will basically say on the west right now. I am not sure as the result, I am hearing rumors, I am not sure the time frame in the north, but in the west - we accept the west and we are up and moving and everyone is quite satisfied and realize where we went wrong and we come out of the meeting today feeling more contented at this moment."

Jules Vasquez
"Now, where do you all stand versus the BBA right now because I know the BBA has its own issues - its own timing. It had 8 busses through the City on Saturday. I didn't see any green and yellow bus."

Claude Frazier, Chairman - BBA
"To be honest I wasn't aware of it. I had gotten a hint - one member called me - he was on the executive yes but that was the only call I got from one of the Belize Bus Owners Cooperative member and where we stand with the Belize Bus Association is that we are still a member of the Belize Bus Association - it's just that, to say frankly, is that if my members are satisfied and come under the decision they had agree on - I am just asking the Belize Bus Association to respect us in that decision and we move forward from there."

Jules Vasquez
"There have been some talking that there was discontent among some of your members and that at this meeting you would have been removed. That didn't happen?"

Claude Frazier, Chairman - BBA
"You said it once. I know where I stand. I feel comfortable and I am still here."

Presently the BBOC is operating 15 runs, 9 in the west and 6 in the north….
