The political parties' campaign season is winding down - and two hotly anticipated events were held yesterday.

First, in Belize Rural central for the PUP it was a four way race. Polling was held in Ladyville and Hattieivlle and in the seat that Ralph Fonseca once controlled went to Dolores Balderamos Garcia - who's made a return to electoral politics after losing in Port Loyola in 2003.

A robust 2002 people voted and Balderamos Garcia won with 640 votes while Linsford Castillo had 576, Alburn Rivero, 446 and Edgar Young, 301.

For the UDP in STANN CREEK WEST, controversial incumbent area representative Melvin Hulse fended off challenger Denzil Jenkins, beating him 1,107 to 645 votes, with 48 votes for Dennis Martinez. 1,818 persons voted.
