Will Football National Selection Play WC Qualifier In Honduras?
posted (July 5, 2011)
The Football Federation of Belize is still under suspension by FIFA - but reports from Honduras say that they are looking to play the return match of their world cup qualifier in Honduras. That is what the coach, Honduran Jose de la Paz Herrera has told a newspaper in that country.

But according to senior vice president of the FFB, Bernaldino Pech, they investigated the Honduras option just as a way of planning ahead in case the FFB is not re-certified by the National Sports Council. But he makes very clear that everything is on hold right now, pending FIFA's lifting the suspension on the FFB.

He says the FFB is trying to prove to FIFA that the way has been made for the FFB to be re-certified and its suspension by the sports council is being purposefully prolonged. He says if the FFB can establish that to FIFA - then they may be able to continue with the world cup qualifier, even if it means having to play in Honduras.

The Sports Council's position is that it has 13 voluntary members from all over the country and cannot convene a meeting at the drop of a hat.
