When Belize City Mayor Zeniada Moya and popular DJ and Promoter Troy Dalla Flowers got married in May of 2009 - it made big news, they were a five star celebrity couple. And for the first time, the private lives of public figures made news: The media dutifully covered the church ceremony and the star-studded reception.
And just so, now it's news just the same that the Mayor and her hubby have filed for a divorce after just over two years of marriage.
According to reports, papers were filed with their attorneys on Friday . But it's not final because the divorce still has to go through the courts - which could take some time.
Neither Moya nor Flowers would comment today; Moya asked via text: "how is my personal life public interest?"
We do know that the couple have been separated for some time; as Flowers has moved out of their Northern Highway home.
The couple share a son, Kelvin who was born in September of 2009.
