French Teen Prankster Released By Bze Police After Delta Bomb Scare
posted (July 26, 2011)
The 16 year old French teenager who caused a bomb scare aboard a Delta Jet headed for the Phillip Goldson International yesterday has been released from police custody. The teenager was detained along with his mother after he held up a handmade sign with the word "Help" etched on a Belize Immigration form. On the other side of the paper, he had drawn a mushroom cloud - the type that would be generated by a bomb blast.

A flight attendant saw the drawing and showed it to the captain who called into Belize's air control tower that he had a bomb threat on board.

That sent Belize's emergency response team into a scramble as they prepared for the worst. The jet was isolated at the far Western end of the runway and searched while passengers were taken off on a bus and held in a warehouse. Nothing was found but the French student of Rodier, Paris was detained for questioning until 6:45 pm yesterday evening and then released without charges.

Through a translator, he told authorities he and his friend were bored and they just wanted some excitement.
