Vocal Instructor from Barbados Kellie Cadogan told us what to expect:

"What's happening here is the final showcase for the summer arts institute. And this year, we're not only going to have voice, but we're also going to have the Belize Dance Company joining in the production. So the first half is going to be voice and dance, and the second half is going to be a very unique production. It's a musical drama, and it's going to be based on folk in Belize."

"What I am seeing is that there is an interest of young people, who have the potential to become artists. Unfortunately, we've not been seeing the seasoned artists in Belize coming to the program, which is a little unfortunate. But I think that this is a good opportunity for the young people who have aspirations to be singers to come forward to get the correct training. If you want to be really good, if you want to be known for what you're doing - because singing is a craft; singing is a gift from God. And people, we have to dispel the notion that if you can sing, you can sing. People are paid big bucks for this, and it's not only about money, but it also helps to shape and train young people. I think arts in general is something that we need hone. Our young people really need it, and the training is important. We have to come to the point where the voice is important. I think you have to get the craft right. I want to encourage people to - people can cling to people who they're comfortable with, but it requires hardwork. It just not the vocals; being able to be disciplined in this environment - this stage of life - is very important. And a lot of Belize Artists lack it. It's the blatant truth."
