No Arrests Yet In Foiled Bank Robbery
posted (August 16, 2011)
Police have not made any arrests for the brazen attempted armed robbery yesterday afternoon at the Ladyville branch of the Atlantic Bank.

As we reported one man went in posing as a customer and then suddenly tried to wrest away the security guard's gun. He and the security guard started struggling and two other men came in to support the would be robber.

They shot both security guards. One of them, Dalton Watler was shot in the head but survived because it was only a graze. Still, they managed to foil the bank robbery and the trio only escaped with their weapons. As we reported last night, the escape car a Toyota Corrola was found in the Vista Del Mar area where residents told police the men abandoned it and escaped in a waiting boat.

An elaborate plan but police say they have known suspects from Belize City whom they are 90% sure they will arrest. Interestingly, Ladyville police intercepted this same group a month ago - when it was believed they were also on a criminal move. At that time, no crime had been committed and no arrests were made.
