Garrett Gill, Leader, Pickstock Carnival Band
"I'm here today because really and truly our band is very down when it comes to finance. Pickstock carnival band is out for the past four years and from then we didn't have problems when it comes to finance. I do not know what happened, I do not know what caused it but Pickstock is very down. I was thinking about backing out this year and come back next year, we are waiting for some people to answer to tell us if they are going to donate or not. We are really begging for help. Pickstock really needs help; we are the band that has the most children. Every year I always accommodate 105 children. This year it is 120 but because of that I won't carry 90 children out there and i have 120. If I have to carry 90 children out there better I don't come out because we don't have to money to continue with our finance problem. I telling you the truth we need at least $2,500 that would give us a big jump and a good ending, but we need about that cause right now I could take you to my house. Our king and queen costume haven't started yet. Last year around this time we had already covered with king and queen costume. Right now we haven't started yet. When it comes to the revelers costume, whole sections haven't been sewed yet because they are waiting for the money and I can't afford they sewing I don't have the money. We need to have the funds to meet the criteria of their needs. I am begging to the public please, even if they have to drop by #30 Pickstock Street apartment, they could come around and see what we have and even if it is a 1 cent, we start with channel 7 - if they want to donate to us and give us a good jump. That would help us rather than we having nothing at all."
