City Murders Take the Lives Of Two Working Men
posted (August 22, 2011)
The spree of violence continued this weekend in Belize City. A 37 year old man was killed on Saturday evening while riding his bicycle on Caesar Ridge Road. It happened around five fifty that evening. Reports are that Tyrone Crown - who is a bodyworks man - was riding his bicycle on Caesar Ridge Road when two men rode up behind him; one of them took out a firearm and opened fire. According to neighbors they heard no less than 17 gunshots ring out. Crown was pronounced dead before reaching the hospital. Police press officer Sergeant Fitzroy Yearwood told us more:….

Sgt. Fitzroy Yearwood - Police Press Officer
"Saturday sometime after 6pm police visited KHMH where they saw the lifeless body of Tyrone Crown - a body works man of Louise Bevans Street. Initial investigations reveal that Tyrone was riding a bicycle somewhere on Caesar Ridge Road with its junction with Allan Pitts Crescent when two men rode up behind him - one of them open fire in his direction hitting him in excess of 10 times. We recovered about 17 expended shells from the scene. The reason I am also saying unfortunate is because we have canvass that area, we have tried to interview people - this is early in the evening. The storm didn't hit Belize City and nobody seems to have seen anything. We are asking people - I just want to state that 922-TIPS hotline is not a police hotline. Actually it is run by the Rotary and these calls go directly to Miami where an international operator announces it. Maybe this should give people more assurance that if you call in on a tip that could help us - we are trying our best to solve this murder situation and we have to appeal for every little opportunity - every little help that we can get from the public."

Police say that they are not certain if the murder of Belizean musician -Giovanni Chi - is linked to Saturday night's murder. Chi was gunned down on Thursday night at the corner of Jane Usher Boulevard and Louise Bevans Street. No one has been arrested for both Chi and Crown's murders and police have not yet established any motives.
