Man Initially Survives Multiple Shots to Head, Then Succumbs
posted (August 22, 2011)
Meanwhile, another shooting took place on the City's Southside - less than 4 hours later. 31 year old Jorge Estrada a Belizean Bartender of Old Belize was found at the corner of George and King Streets. He had 3 gunshot wounds to the left side of his head and was bleeding profusely. Estrada survived and was rushed to the KHMH.

Neighbors told police, no shots were heard around the neighborhood and so that gives police reason to believe that Estrada was shot somewhere else and was only dumped on George Street to die.

Sgt. Fitzroy Yearwood - Police Press Officer
"We had another shooting later on that night. This one occurred at the corner of King and George Streets where a Hispanic male was found with 3 shots to the head. He was later identified as Jorge Estrada - a Belizean bartender of a Belize City address. We know that Mr. Estrada is in a very critical condition and is clinging on for his life right now at the KHMH. The people in that area are saying that they didn't hear any shots, leading us to believe that maybe Mr. Estrada was shot somewhere else and dump at the corner of King and George. We cannot say if he was shot using a silencer weapon, that would be speculation but something was used to so that no one could have heard this at 9 o' clock in the night."

Jorge Estrada was on life support at the KHMH and was diagnosed by doctors as brain dead. He succumbed to his injuries a little after 4 this evening. No one has been detained by police.
