Teenager Gets Ten Years For Pistol

Police have wrapped up a tidy conviction on a firearm offence.

Last Friday, a police constable who is presently attached to the Joint Police/BDF Operations Team - was on special duty at the Belize City Center- when he noticed 19 year old Felipe Novelo entering the building looking suspicious. The Constable searched Novelo and found this black 9mm Beretta Pistol tucked in his front pants pocket. He was arrested and charged for the offenses of keeping a firearm without a license and keeping ammunition without a license.

Today Novelo appeared in the Magistrate's Court and pleaded guilty to both charges. He was sentenced to 5 years on each count.
