Security Officer Remanded to Prison

Forty Three year old Clifton Perez, a security officer at Jaguar Paw Resort became an inmate of the Belize Central Prison today. Perez, a resident of number 9387 Unity Street, was charged with discharging a firearm in public and possession of a 9 millimeter pistol whilst under the influence of alcohol above the prescribed limit. The Police alleged that Perez discharged the 9 millimeter pistol that was issued to him while he was intoxicated. Perez appeared in Magistrate's Court # 5 where he pleaded not guilty to the charges. Magistrate Albert Hoare explained that since he was charged under the Firearms Act he could not offer him bail. Perez was remanded to custody until October 11th. The incident occurred on Sunday August 28th.
