Consultations Compressed

Two weeks ago we told you about the schedule of consultations for the constitution and foreign affairs committee which were scheduled to finish on the second November with a meeting at the University of Belize in Belmopan.

Well, things change, and that schedule of consultation has been pared down - because it seems Government is determined to take the ninth amendment back to the house as soon as the ninety days is finished.

The bill was introduced on July 22nd and ninety days end on Thursday, October 20. And now, the new stripped down schedule of consultation ends on October fifth - a whole month earlier than was previously planned.

How did they compress the schedule? Well, they cancelled consultations in San Pedro, Independence and Maskall.

Tonight's consultation is in Orange Walk Town at the Sports complex. The Wednesday after that it will be in Dangriga, then to Punta Gorda, then to Santa Elena, and finally on October fifth in Belmopan...
