Fathers March Against Molestors
posted (September 29, 2011)
FASEAC, it's a activist group whose acronym doesn't quite roll off the tongue, but that doesn't diminish the importance of the Fathers Against Sexual Exportation and Abuse of Children - particularly with the hideous rape of a four year old girl last week. As a response to that, they will be demonstrating through the principal streets of Belize City this Saturday.

The protest is pushing for prompt justice for the 4 year old girl and President David Betancourt told us more today:..

David Betancourt, Member, FASEAC
"We have met with the young lady, the mother of the victim and I was with her for a long period of time and really got to know her. We are really concern about what is taken place in our society. We have not been on the public forefront for a long while but we have been - after the demonstration we had last. We were back and forth in Belmopan trying to get them to get the DNA machine of which most people by know by now that they have gotten and recently with this case we really took it serious because not only the child was victimized but it seems that the mother had to also become a victim in he own circumstances by trying to get justice for her child. So we are about to - we have gotten the permit to do a demonstration on Saturday of which will be going through some of the major streets, we will be starting off at the park by the Pound Yard and we will be going over to Vernon Street over to Central American Boulevard over the bridge on Freetown Road, on to North Front Street and eventually over Swing Bridge."

"What do you guys hope to accomplish with this demonstration?"

David Betancourt, Member, FASEAC
"We want people to come out and show that one; we are in solidarity with the victims, that they are not alone and two: send a loud message to predators that are preying on our children that they cannot continue to do this because there are people out here that will fight and three; for people in authority to do more than what they are doing and a big part of it is to get people involve who are like lawyers who could actually make a big difference when it comes to they knowing they law and what they can do to change the law to let the law be more victim friendly than predator friendly."

The demonstrate will start at the Constitution Park on Saturday at 10 in the morning. The route is as follows: Wood Street left into Vernon Street, right into Central American Boulevard over Belcan Bridge unto Freetown Road right into Mapp Street, left into North Front Street, right over Swing Bridge unto Albert Street left into Treasury Lane and ends at Battlefield Park.
