Bze. Dist Teachers Vote Against Ninth
posted (October 6, 2011)
And while the PM won't lament the departure of Matus, we imagine, there will be some lamentation about a vote taken yesterday by the Belize district branch of the Teachers' Union.

As we told you last night, they held their General Meeting yesterday where a vote was taken by secret ballot on those for and against the ninth amendment.

Just under 300 teachers turned out and 263 voted. There were 169 against supporting the ninth and 80 in favor of supporting it - 14 votes were blank.

President Kathleen Flowers told us that turnout was poor, as usually they get about 500 teachers at their meetings. That vote will now be passed unto the council of the national executive which will receive similar votes from ten units of the union. That meeting will be held on October fifteenth.
