Temporary Justice of Appeal Sworn In

A new Justice of Appeal has been sworn in for this session of the Court of Appeals.

Guyanese Professor Duke Pollard was sworn in today as a temporary Justice by the Governor General, Sir Colville Young, at Belize House in Belmopan.

Professor Pollard has an impressive resume. He was a judge of the Caribbean Court of Justice from 2005 to 2010. After retiring form that senior post, he took up appointment as Professor of Law at the University of Guyana.

His areas of expertise include General International Law, Law of Treaties and International Economic Law. Pollard is a member of the British Institute of International and Comparative Law, a member of the American Society of International Law and a member of the Caribbean Association of Law and Court Administration.

The October session of the Court of Appeal started today, and will run until the 28th October. 14 cases will be heard: seven Civil and seven Criminal.
