When 22 year old American National Ervin Conner came to Belize City today on a cruise ship he had thick link silver chain with a cross medal around his neck. But when he left Belize City it was minus the chain.
Why? Because Conner was busted with 1.2 grams of cannabis - which is about the size of a weed roach - and he had to hurriedly sell his chain for a distress price of $260.00 to pay a fine of $250 plus five dollars cost of court - leaving him with five dollars - which ironically is about how much he might have paid for the weed in the first place.
Magistrate Roberto Ordonez ordered him to pay forthwith after he pleaded guilty to the charge.
The police reported that they got information that a man in full black had cannabis. So they took Conner into the bathroom at the terminal and searched him. The search resulted in the discovery of the cannabis in the front pocket of his pants.
