BATSUB: A Going Away Present
posted (November 4, 2011)
The BATSUB operation in Belize is all but closed down and today at Price Barracks, the British Army had something similar to what you might call a closeout sale. Except, it wasn't a sale: it was a donation. The British handed over $250,000 worth of equipment that they will not take with them back to the UK. It includes 10 Bedford military trucks, 20 trailers, 2 containers with equipment and petrol bowsers, and 6 boxes of outdoor camping equipment. The British High Commissioner, the BDF and BATSUB Commanders were present when the Commissioner formally handed over the items to the BDF.

This is to complement the ATV's that they had already donated for mobilizing BDF troops in jungle areas.

Remember The World Series!

And as we end this Friday night's news, we have a programming note: Make sure to tune in on Sunday afternoon at 1:30 for the 2011 World Series of Poker Main Event finale. As we've been reporting Belizean Bob Bou-Nahra has made it to the final table - from a starting field of almost seven thousand - a singular accomplishment for any Belizean in the gambling world's richest event.

This year's winner becomes poker's world champion and will take home 8.7 million US dollars.
