Lambey Charged Again
posted (November 28, 2011)
33 year old Honduran Shirley Lambey lived virtually her entire life in Belize, albeit illegally, and, now, because she lost her temper, she stands to lose it all.

Last week, the domestic worker of 8888 Jane Usher Boulevard was fined one thousand dollars for failure to produce a visitor's permit, and today she was back in court charged with aggravated assault and using threatening words. Lambey pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Although she is facing a sentence of 6 months in default of payment of the immigration fine which she was ordered to pay forthwith, senior Magistrate Sharon Fraser offered her a bail of a thousand dollars. Her case was adjourned until January 25.

The incident occurred on Thursday, November 24 at Queen Street Police Station. Police constable Mervin Locke reported that while Lambey was being detained in connection with an altercation with another woman, Lambey threw a bucket of water on him and threatened to have him killed. Lambey admitted she threw water on Locke but said she did so after he shocked her with a Taser gun. Lambey said water was thrown in the cell she was put in and she was made to sleep in it.
