GSU Busts Contraband And Drugs

Around 3:17 on Saturday evening, GSU officers conducted a search at the residence of 35 year old Curl Benguche - at number 13 Myrtle Wade Crescent Street in Ladyville - a property which contains three houses and a shop.

When the officers arrived, Benguche who was inside the shop - ran outside and was seen by police, throwing a transparent plastic bag on the roof of the shop.

The bag was retrieved by police and contained 51 grams of cannabis. A further search of the yard next to the shop led police to the discovery of a small transparent plastic bag which contained 31 small pieces of crack cocaine wrapped in foil paper inside one pockets of a pair of pants. The crack cocaine weighed 4 grams. And not only illegal drugs, Police also found contraband.

In the same yard next to the fence, 4 cases of Foster Beers were found. A further search inside the shop led to the discovery of a quart of Baileys and a quart of Appleton rum along with 4 small packs of Horseman cigarettes.

An additional 24 Foster beers were found inside a freezer. Present along with Benguche at the time were 22 year old Belizean Pharmacist, Nadia Pineda and 23 year old mechanic Jemmy McLaughlin both of the same address. As a result of the discovery, all three were arrested and jointly charged with possession of a controlled drug and drug trafficking. The contraband goods were handed over to the Customs and Excise Department where Benguche was charged three times the value of the goods totaling, two thousand, seven hundred and seventy five dollars.
