Man Who Robbed Student, Remanded
posted (December 9, 2011)
Forty year old mason Raymond Codd, a resident of Los Lagos became an inmate of Belize Central Prison today when he appeared in the Magistrate Court and was charged with robbery of a Laptop and headphone from a 17 year old high school student.

Codd pleaded not guilty to the charge. The prosecutor objected to bail on the grounds that the complainant is a minor and if granted bail Codd might interfere with the complainant, and that the offence is of a serious nature. Codd was unable to give a good reason why he should be granted bail so Magistrate Roberto Ordonez remanded him into custody until January 22, 2012.

The incident occurred around 6:33 a.m yesterday. The student, Andre Lanza reported to the police that he was walking on Sarstoon Street on his way to school when Codd rode up behind him on a bicycle and put the point of a knife to his chest.

Lanza said Codd demanded that he hand over his belongings and he gave Codd his back pack containing a Laptop computer and his headphone. Codd was detained in Battlefield Park by the police later the same day.
