GSU "Stays On It" Through Christmas
posted (December 29, 2011)
While most of us were still recovering from, resting or rejoicing for that four-day weekend, the GSU was out looking for weapons. And on Tuesday afternoon, they hit the jackpot in Taylor's Alley, off Cemetery Road, where they found One serviceable AK-47 MAK 90 Assault Rifle, One AK-47 Magazine with one live round of 7.62 caliber ammunition.

These were found in the ceiling of the upper flat of an abandoned, wooden house stuffed inside a green duffle bag. No one was in the house at the time and the assault rifle was labeled as Found Property. The GSU considers this a part of Taylor's Alley Gang turf.

And, even on Christmas day, the GSU was at it, playing Scrooge to two men who were on Hondo Street near Pratt's Fried Chicken. Around 10:15, William Armando NIETO and Elsworth Smith were searched. 33 year old Salvadorean Nieto had 1.5 grammes of crack cocaine in his pocket, which smith had 6.4 grammes.

NIETO was charged for two counts of possession of a controlled drug while SMITH was charged for one count of drug trafficking. NIETO is in the country illegally, so his case will be referred to the Immigration Department.

And in an operation conducted this afternoon at 2:30 the GSU searched 29 year old Darrell CAYETANO Neal's home at #20 Castle Street. Police say that when they got there, he was seen running from a lot across the street. Police say he was apprehended and taken to where they claim to have seen him throwing a bag on Kelly Street while running away. The bag was retrieved and it contained 293 grams - more than half a pound of weed. He was arrested and charged for drug trafficking.

His house was searched but nothing was found. A further search of an adjacent yard revealed an additional 83 grams of cannabis that was labeled as found property.
