Burglar Back In Court
posted (January 16, 2012)
Forty-five year old Steve Codd, a laborer of 126 Partridge Street who was fined $2000 last week after he pleaded guilty to theft, was back in court today charged this time with burglary.

Codd wanted to plead guilty to the charge, but #5 court Magistrate, Hattie Mae Stuart did not accept the plea because he said he was innocent, and he was only pleading guilty because the two police were harassing him.

She offered him a bail of $4,000 but he was unable to meet bail, so he was remanded into custody at Belize Central Prison. He is to return to court on February 21.

The burglary occurred on Friday, January 13 at Mckoy Fast Food Shop on Central American Boulevard. Brandon Mckoy, the owner of the shop, reported to the police that items with a total value of $650 were stolen from the shop. Fifty-eight year old Glenda Neal, a house wife of Fresh Pond, was charged with burglary and damage to property when she appeared today in the #3 Magistrate's Court.

She pleaded not guilty to the charges. Magistrate Sherigne Rodriguez offered her a bail of $600 which she met. Her case was adjourned until March 20. The incident occurred around 1:30 pm on Sunday, January 15.

Delmont Black, the step-son of John Wade, the owner of the house in Fresh Pond that was burglarized, reported to the police that he heard a knock on the door, and when he looked outside he did not see anybody. But when he looked by the window he saw Neal removing some pieces of glass from the window.

Black said he saw Neal push her hand through the window, and when she saw him she told him not to tell anybody. The damage to property is for 4 glass louvers and one screen window.
