Sketching, My Way
posted (January 20, 2012)
It is called "Sketching My Way" an exhibit mounted by 21 year old Stacy Rodriguez - a talented young Belizean artist. Since 2008, Rodriguez has sketched over 80 pieces - including people, places and just her raw imagination. We got a look at her first solo exhibition:..

Stacy Rodriguez, Artist
"My pieces here are all pencil work, regular pencil and colored pencils."

Monica Bodden
"When was it the first time you started to get in sketching?"

Stacy Rodriguez, Artist
"In 2008."

Monica Bodden
"What made you decide to begin to sketch?"

Stacy Rodriguez, Artist
"I just did it one day, I was bored sitting on the sofa, paging through a magazine, I decided to draw something out of the magazine, a face out of the magazine."

Monica Bodden
"What's the longest piece that you have worked on?"

Stacy Rodriguez, Artist "The Tiger."

Monica Bodden
"How long did it take you to complete it?"

Stacy Rodriguez, Artist
"8 hours."

Monica Bodden
"Tell us a little bit about some of the art pieces you have on display.?"

Stacy Rodriguez, Artist
"Well there is the famous tiger, which is for auction for a charity for women - a domestic violence shelter - there are three pieces on auction for them. The other pieces are a collection of all the stuff that I have done for the 2 years, so that's a good collection."

The exhibit opens tonight at the Bliss Center for the Performing Arts, and the public is invited. "Sketching my way" will be on display at the Bliss up until the end of February.
