Alleged Tacos Vendor Robbers to Court, But No Robbery Charge
posted (February 8, 2012)
Last night, 7news reported on the three armed young men caught by GSU in the progress of robbing a tacos vendor. Today, they were arraigned in the court room of Magistrate Robert Ordonez.

18 year-old Clifford Lorenzo, a student of 2 1/2 miles on the Western Highway; 20 year-old Stanley Moore, a resident of Fabers Road; and a young man whose true age is in question, were all charged with keeping an unlicensed firearm for a .25 pistol, which police found. The young man, whose true age is in question, was also charged with possession of a controlled drug.

According the GSU, they responded to a robbery of a tacos vendor on Partridge Street yesterday at around 1:45 p.m., and they noticed 3 men fleeing the scene. GSU pursued the men who ran into a house; they were able to corner and arrest the 3 men.

When the officers searched the yard of the house that the men ran into, they found a .25 pistol in the yard, which they believe was used to commit the robbery. They also found 4 grams of cannabis on the minor. They were all arrested and charged.

In court, all three men pleaded not guilty to firearms charge. The minor pleaded guilty to possession of a controlled drug for the 4 grams of cannabis found on him.

Magistrate Ordonez explained to the defendants that due to the nature of the charges, they cannot be granted bail. They have all been remanded to Belize Central Prison until their next court date which is set for March 16.

The age of third young man who is claiming to be 17 is still not determined by the court, and a social worker has been tasked with finding how old he really is.

One final note is that the men have not been charged with robbery, which the police believe that they committed. They were supposedly to be brought back before Magistrate Ordonez for robbery-related charges, but up until the time they were transported from the courthouse, they were not arraigned, much less charged.
