Police Officer Charged for Allegedly Driving Drunk And Crashing Mobile
posted (February 13, 2012)
Tonight the Ladyville police station is seriously incapacitated - as the regular police have no mobile - after a drunken spree by cops turned into a traffic disaster.

It happened yesterday morning at around 3:00, when 4 police officers attached to the Ladyville Police Station were driving the mobile on the old Northern Highway. They were heading back to the police station, and when they arrived at the intersection of the road leading to Altun Ha, the driver veered off the pavement and crashed into a tree.

Fortunately, none of the police officers received serious injuries, but the driver has been charged with traffic offenses. He is Corporal Luis Quixaj, a 26 year-old resident of the Chan Chen Village in the Corozal District.

He was arraigned before Magistrate Dorothy Flowers on the offenses of driving with alcohol consumption above the prescribed limit and driving without due care and attention.

Quixaj pleaded not guilty to the charges, and he was granted bail of $1,000, which he was able to meet. He is to return to court #8 on April 26, 2012.
