Another Police Officer Busted With Unlicensed Firearm
posted (February 13, 2012)
Exactly 4 weeks ago, 7News reported on the story of Corporal Gino Peck and his wife, Loretta, who were busted by the Gang Suppression Unit with an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.

Peck, who is a police officer with over 18 years of experience, with very influential associates, was charged jointly with his wife with firearms related offenses, but he was never brought to court. His connections even got him out of being present for the reading of his charge in Magistrate's Court when the matter was called up.

It was a 3 day fiasco as the GSU made several attempts to get him arraigned and remanded, while the Police Department's Eastern Division blocked all their attempts. With all the attention that this incident received, one would think that it served as a warning to all police officers to get ride of unlicensed firearms and ammunition in their possession.

Apparently, one lawman didn't heed that warning because the GSU busted him on Saturday. He is Jose Adolfo Haylock, a 26 year-old Special Constable attached the Queen Street Police Station.

According to GSU, at around 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, they conducted a search at a house located at # 3716 Louise Bevans Street in Belize City. According to GSU, the residence belongs to Haylock, and his 27year-old common -law wife, Corrine Diana Martinez.

Officers found a .22 LARGO Brand revolver loaded with 10 live rounds of .22 ammunition, and 10 live rounds 9mm ammunition in 2 separate sections of the house. As a result, Haylock and Martinez were arrested and charged jointly with one count of keeping an unlicensed firearm, and 2 counts of keeping unlicensed ammunition.

Both Haylock and Martinez pleaded not guilty to all charges, and due to the nature of the offenses, they could not be offered bail. They have been remanded to Belize Central Prison until March 15.

One final note is that, although the GSU believes thatHaylock lives at the Louise Bevans Residence, he gave a King's Park address in court.
