posted (February 13, 2012)
51 year-old Steve Williams, a construction worker of a Pelican Street address, was arraigned before Magistrate Robert Ordonez today. He is charged with drug trafficking, assaulting a police officer, and resisting lawful arrest.

According to Police, on Saturday, February 11, several officers were on mobile patrol on Raccoon Street. The officers say that they saw Williams on the street, and according to them, he was behaving suspiciously.

When they searched him, they found a blue cloth in his right font pants pocket. This cloth contained 4 pieces of foil paper, and in the foil papers, police found 1.3 grams of crack cocaine.

As a result, the officers tried to arrest him. When Police Constable Wilbert Cob tried to handcuff Williams, he allegedly shoved the officer hard in his chest in an attempt to run away. Police say that Cob grabbed him by the shirt, and he was able to hold onto him long enough for another officer to provide assistance.

Williams was finally arrested, and he was taken to the police station where he was charged.

In court, Williams pleaded not guilty to all charges and was granted bail of $5,000 plus 2 sureties. He is to return to court on April 2.
