Down With the King?
posted (February 14, 2012)
And in political news of far lesser significance, a man caught stealing political signs was taken to court today.

In the political season, it's the kind of thing that happens all the time - but no one ever gets caught -except for Norris "Cologne" Leslie, a 31 year-old construction worker of Mahogany Street. He was arraigned in Magistrate's Court for theft and damage to property. It is alleged that he stole billboards from Mark King, the UDP Candidate for Lake Independence.

7News spoke to King today, who told us that on Sunday, he received a call that someone was stealing his billboards. King said that he went on Mahogany Street and observed that 4 billboards, to a total value of $6,000, were missing. These billboards were located at sections on Mahogany Street from the location of Brick City Barber Shop to Administrative Drive.

King said that he reported it immediately to the police, and a witness came forward with information. This witness told police that she saw who stole the billboards. Quick police investigation led to the detention of Leslie and the recovery of the plywood and lumber parts of the billboards. The actual billboards are still missing.

In court today, Leslie pleaded not guilty to both charges, and he was granted bail of $2,000 plus two sureties. The case has been adjourned until March 27.
