The GSU Not Afraid Of "Ghost"
posted (February 14, 2012)
Last week Thursday, we told you about the disturbing home invasion on Dean Street, where four badly beaten men alleged that members of the Gang Suppression Unit brutalized them with bats and clubs - and then left.

It has left these men angry, and their attorney, Phillip Palacio, told the media yesterday that they want to sue the commissioner of police and the attorney general.

Leonard "Ghost" Myers, one of the men who spoke to us about that incident, even told us that he is being harassed by the GSU, and that he thinks that he is a police target.

Well, he was brought back to court today, after the GSU allegedly busted him with six other persons for 13 grams - or 0.4 ounces of marijuana, a mere 5 days after the alleged beating by GSU.

According to police, yesterday at around 11:15 a.m., GSU conducted a search at the Seaside Guesthouse on #3 Prince Street.

Police say that they found 1 gram of cannabis in an ash tray in the establishment. When the officers searched the yard, they also found a black plastic bag stuck in a section of the fence which belongs to the guesthouse.

As a result, the seven, including Myers, were arrested and charged for possession of a controlled drug. 4 of the accused persons were also charged with possession for the 1 gram found in the ash tray.

When the charge was read in court, Myers pleaded guilty for the 13 grams found in the fence. The 4 defendants who were charged for the 1 gram all pleaded not guilty, and they were granted bail. The two others were discharged since Meyers took the plea.

For 13 grams that Myers pleaded guilty to, he was sentenced to pay a fine of $500, which he must pay by March 30, or he will spend 2 months in prison if he defaults.
