Police Descend On Hopkins For Drugs

Last week Friday, the Anti drug unit descended on Hopkins Village. They searched several houses in the area, and as a result, arrested 9 people for charges ranging from drug trafficking to possession of an unlicensed ammunition.

The first arrest was made at 4:20 am as the police searched the home of 33 year old Belizean Domestic, Delia Miranda. She was seen throwing away a black plastic bag, which after inspection, revealed 115 grams, or four ounces, of suspected cannabis. She was arrested and charged with drug trafficking.

Then, only 40 minutes later, the team searched the residence of Paul Nunez, a 39 year old Belizean Labourer. This search led to the discovery of 17.5 grams of suspected crack cocaine which was hidden in a wall beam inside the house. As a result, Nunez was arrested and charged.

Then 30 minutes later, at 5:30 am, the police searched the home of Osbert Sabal,a 24 year old BDF soldier. A search revealed nineteen .22 live round of ammunition. Sabal, and two others were charged for unlicensed ammunition.

Finally, the arrests were concluded at 6:00 am when the residence of 38 year old Bryan Castilo, a Belizean Fisherman, was searched. They discovered 104 grams, a little under 3 ounces, of Crack cocaine and 107.3 grams of suspected marijuana - a total of 214.3 grams, about 7 ounces, of drugs. Bryan Castillo and 24 year old Belizean Chef Judy Stamp were arrested for Drug Trafficking.
